GOP Rep. Kevin McCarthy of California, who was <a href="https://www.theblaze.com/news/house-vote-remove-mccarthy-speaker" target="_blank">ousted</a> from his role as House speaker earlier on Tuesday, <a href="https://www.c-span.org/video/?530913-1/rep-mccarthy-news-conference-removal-speaker" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">announced</a> Tuesday night that he will not seek the speakership again.

"I will not run for speaker again. I'll have the conference pick somebody else," McCarthy said during remarks on Tuesday evening.

The McCarthy ouster marked the first time in U.S. history that a House speaker has been removed from the role, according to reports.
