Today on The Editors, Noah is in his element, discussing a topic very much in his wheelhouse. Ukrainian forces have started their counter-offensive, but a catastrophic dam explosion has added new logistical problems.
“I’m gonna put myself out there,” said Noah, “and say the Russians blew up the dam. One-hundred percent. This is not something you can just do with a missile or a bomb. You need to demo this very complicated structure. It was under Russian control. Russia has a very long history of scorched-earth campaigns.”
He explained how this destructive act “complicates an offensive into Crimea, notwithstanding the lack of water now into the Crimean Peninsula for industrial purposes . . . but the advantages that it bestows on the Russian defense outweigh those that it provides Crimea.”
