So, we are on for at least the September 10 ABC debate, and Trump wants two others. With Kamala having surged and the media showing zero interest in scrutinizing her, Trump needs debates.

I was bullish about his chances in the Biden debate because I thought all he had to do was act somewhat reasonable and make the case for himself, and he’d win. Against Kamala, it will be trickier — Trump needs to take her down a peg or two while also making the case for himself.

Given that by an objective standard he wasn’t great in the first debate and that a tie would probably go to Kamala, he should treat this event (or these events) with the utmost seriousness.
