I noted a while ago Trump’s complete dominance over his European counterparts, and it was on display in rather stunning fashion on Monday during his meeting with European leaders.

They’d all accepted Trump’s rules for interacting with Trump, and acknowledged that getting along with Trump is of the highest geopolitical import. At one point, they were arrayed around the Resolute Desk like schoolchildren.

If I remember correctly, at one of the Republican debates in 2016, Trump said of the other candidates something like, “See, they all bow to Trump.” That seemed like an exaggeration at the time, but it’s proved true so many years later, not only of his own political party, but of major foreign leaders.
