What we are seeing this afternoon is a culmination of the “walls are closing in” fantasy that has been a signature part of the Trump era since 2017.
What Bob Mueller failed to do, to the great disappointment of the media and the Left, Alvin Bragg has done. There reportedly weren’t any mugshots, but — consolation prize — there is a still photo of Trump at the defendant’s table. And journalists have been able to say, “Donald Trump is no longer free,” while speculating about how sad and disconcerted he is. It’s also very likely not a one-time event — he’ll presumably be back for other proceedings related to this case, and there may be more indictments to come.
The “walls are closing in” was the Left’s equivalent of “lock her up,” except the wishful sentiment has now become a stark reality that we’ll all be living with for a long time.
