NextImg:The Corner: The Radical Strength of Motherhood Is the Heart of the Pro-Life Cause

If you were outside the Supreme Court on the day of the oral arguments for Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health, you saw Alison Centofante, a dynamic and authentic pro-life advocate and speaker. With child, she was the radiant emcee that morning, rallying the troops speaking for the unborn and the women of Mississippi and all of our country that has suffered under Roe v. Wade. We were full of hope.

While nursing another little one, Alison was kind enough to share her thoughts on this third anniversary of the Dobbs decision:

Three years after Dobbs, we find ourselves in a two-front mission. The national pro-life movement must continue boldly — funded, strategic, unapologetic in advocating for laws that protect life and defund abortion. But just as vital is the work within our own circles: work that transforms kitchen tables, Bible studies, book clubs, and dinner with friends into spaces where life is honored, motherhood is elevated, and clarity replaces confusion.

We need a generation of people who don’t just vote pro-life but live pro-life — who know how to explain prenatal development, who can speak gently but firmly about the hard cases used to justify abortion, and who have done the intellectual and spiritual work to stand unshaken when challenged. In a world of spin, fear, and half-truths, we need voices that are confident and clear: there is always a life-affirming answer to every pregnancy situation.

This cultural reformation is already happening, and it’s beautifully ordinary. It’s the woman at church equipping her pastor to speak to the reality of abortion and post abortion healing with compassion and conviction. It’s the dad picking up that citrus craving for his pregnant coworker as a gesture of support. It’s the toddler helping mom make lasagna for a neighbor who just gave birth — learning, early on, what it means to serve life.

And let’s be honest: everything in our culture tries to scare women away from motherhood. From medicine to marketing, the message is the same — babies will ruin your body, your future, your identity. But I’m watching women rise in resistance. Choosing to have a baby in today’s world isn’t weakness — it’s radical strength. To say yes to sacrifice, to stretch marks and sleepless nights, to real legacy and love — that’s a countercultural revolution. It’s the most rebellious cool thing you can do — it’s a respectful middle finger to a world who too easily looks down on children and the devoted moms and dads who raise them.

At the same time, innovative nonprofits are stepping in with real solutions, protecting women from harm and walking with them into motherhood with dignity.

The movement continues — from Washington to your front porch. We need bold policy. We need fearless love. We need homes where life is lived and lifted. That’s how we move forward — locally, nationally, sacrificially. Life by life.
