By the way, the New York Times had a critical take on our Alvin Bragg coverage. It singled out a piece I wrote: “Rich Lowry misleadingly claimed every level of the trial was biased against Mr. Trump, including the judge’s handling of the case and the prosecution’s presentation of the charges.”

That word “misleadingly” is interesting. My view of the trial was my opinion and based on my interpretation of established facts. You can say it’s wrong, but that’s an odd thing for a supposedly neutral news item in a newspaper to do.

The Times could have left it at “claimed,” which would have been fair and accurate — I was making a claim about the trial, a claim that I believe is well-supported by the evidence, but one that not everyone is going to accept. Instead, the paper went further, treating it as gospel truth that the trial was completely fair, itself a contested claim about the proceeding.

The Times item was part of a feature called “Media Bubbles” and showed that the paper itself is in one.
