I wouldn’t bet the ranch on it, but a comeback for nuclear power seems possible. Sure, the Luddite Left will do all it can to limit energy production just to its favored “green” sources, but people are once again advocating the use of nuclear power, including former North Carolina governor James Martin.
In today’s Martin Center article, Steve Rae argues that the state’s higher-education system should prepare for a resurgence of nuclear power.
He writes, “South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia are already investing at the state level to ensure that their higher-education systems are ready to support the growth of the nuclear power industry. To be sure, North Carolina has a strong higher-education position in this space right now. But more work at the state level is needed to focus on the unique engineering disciplines and trade skills required by the nuclear power industry.”
