Going to an Ivy League college is as good as it gets — right? All those superstar professors who teach so brilliantly, turning out our next generation of leaders. That’s what the Ivies want you to think.
But Americans seem to be wising up. In today’s Martin Center article, Grace Hall reports on a recent survey indicating that, on the whole, people regard community college and trade school education as more valuable than an Ivy League degree. She writes, “A mere 69 percent of respondents believe that Ivy League colleges and universities offer a ‘very’ or ‘somewhat’ high educational value. Meanwhile, 85 percent of respondents said as much about trade or technical schools.”
My guess is that the outrageous and uncontrolled protests at “elite” schools over the last two years have opened many eyes to the truth that they are not all they were cracked up to be.
