


It’s Good Friday.
Our fascination with intersectionality (especially on the political left though common enough among race essentialists on the right) — the idea that identities overlap in ways that produce discrimination or privilege — is one of the most caustic parts of our age. Everyone has identifying characteristics, and those who subscribe to intersectionality compare these characteristics in a duel to the bottom to decide who is the most oppressed. It’s dumb, for one, but it’s also terribly divisive — and self-indulgent. By doing so, we highlight our incompatibilities rather than what mutual bonds exist.
Standing before the sacrifice on the Cross, our multifaceted persons are found equally foolish in our error.
Thank God we are also offered the same infinite amount of grace.
