


Earlier this month, I joined a panel at the Texas Public Policy Foundation in Austin about the Chinese Communist Party’s united front activities.
That issue is newly relevant in Texas, as the state legislature moves forward with several China-focused bills. Some of the opposition to that legislation comes from dubious sources, as my co-panelists explained. Among other things, I talked about united front influence efforts targeting state and local politicians and why it’s concerning that the Chinese party-state is capable of organizing political demonstrations in the U.S. These aren’t themes that will be new to you if you already follow my reporting, but the panel is worth watching for the insight offered by the other participants, from whom I’ve learned a lot over the years.
