In a show of support for President Trump’s initiatives to secure the southern border, actor Dean Cain, best known for his 1990s portrayal of Superman, will be sworn in as an honorary U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer.
The Associated Press reports the details:
Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin, the Department of Homeland Security’s spokesperson, said Thursday that Cain would be sworn in as an “honorary ICE Officer” in the coming month. It wasn’t immediately clear what his duties as an honorary officer would entail. Cain, 59, told Fox News he was already a sworn deputy sheriff and a reserve police officer.
Cain is urging other Americans to sign up, amid a widespread recruitment push from ICE as well as DHS Secretary Kristi Noem’s announcement lifting the candidate age limit.
“I felt it was important to join with our first responders to help secure the safety of all Americans, not just talk about it, so I joined up,” Cain said in a video posted on his X account.
National Review reached out to DHS and ICE for clarification on Cain’s honorary position but has not heard back.
