NextImg:The Corner: Squandering Time and Money on DEI ‘Training’

Colleges and university officials love to spend money on ideological junk that lets them signal their virtue, promotes the left’s agenda, and directs funds to political allies. One of the leading means of doing that is to bring in “diversity” experts to “train” faculty and staff.

The Martin Center has looked into the extent to which the UNC system devotes resources to DEI training, and in our article today, Ashlynn Warta has some results.

She writes, “Unsurprisingly, UNC-Chapel Hill tops the list, with 207 DEI trainings over four years at a cost of nearly $1 million, annual or total. Chapel Hill has provided just about every DEI training a person could think of, with topics ranging from microaggressions and implicit bias to name pronunciation and white supremacy. Apparently, there is also a desire at Chapel Hill to make library cataloging practices more inclusive, as the institution has offered numerous DEI trainings that are library-specific.”

Quite a few companies are cashing in on this ridiculous obsession. A good sign, however, is that the state legislature is also interested in this phenomenon. Maybe it will pull the plug on this waste of time and money.
