NextImg:The Corner: RFK Jr.’s Red Flags

On today’s Editors episode, Rich, Charlie, Michael, and Dominic discuss RFK Jr.’s nomination to lead HHS, and lay out the many reasons why this is a harmful choice.

Charlie finds it “telling that the two arguments that I have seen in favor of RFK Jr. that are not rankly political are (1) ‘The last guys were awful, too.’ And (2) ‘He says some sensible things about food.’ I think he does say some sensible things about food. Not everything he says about food is correct, but there’s nothing wrong in principle with working toward being healthier. His critiques of processed food are, to some extent, right.”

HHS doesn’t focus primarily on food, however; it’s “a huge, sprawling organization,” Charlie points out. “And we have a guy here who, in addition to his well-known and well-established crankery, is pro-choice — vehemently so — is pro-single payer, and has said throughout the campaign season that he wants to declare a state of emergency on Day One.

“I don’t think that’s who you want in this role if you’re a conservative.”

Dominic cites a long list of RFK Jr.’s issues, among them: “He said positive things in the past about Hugo Chavez. He thinks people should be in jail for what he calls ‘climate denial.’ And that includes many of our friends. He wrote an article listing a lot of different conservative groups, including the Competitive Enterprise Institute.”

And what was Michael’s take? Listen below to find out.
