NextImg:The Corner: Pro-Life Issues Are Given Short Shrift at This Year’s CPAC

Yesterday, the organizers of the annual Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) released the agenda for this weekend’s gathering. Unsurprisingly, CPAC is packed with elected officials, commentators, and social media influencers. A wide range of important public policy issues will be covered during the course of the next three days. These include China, regulatory reform, energy policy, and health care. Finally, President Trump will be addressing the conference on Saturday.

Unfortunately, at this year’s CPAC no main stage panel is devoted to sanctity-of-life issues. This has become a common occurrence. In fact, 2025 marks the third time in four years that CPAC has failed to organize a main stage panel solely dedicated solely to pro-life issues. CPAC organizer Mercedes Schlapp indicated that pro-life issues would be discussed at a “culture war” panel on Thursday afternoon. Furthermore, Kristan Hawkins, President of Students for Life of America (SFLA), is speaking at a sponsor-led breakout session on Friday afternoon.

However, the lack of a main stage panel dedicated to pro-life issues at this year’s CPAC is disappointing. This is first time since the Dobbs decision that a Republican president has been in the White House. Many pro-lifers would like to see the Trump administration take steps to defund Planned Parenthood and place limits on chemical-abortion drugs. Furthermore, President Trump’s recent executive order on IVF has generated a great deal of controversy in pro-life political circles. There is certainly plenty to discuss. However, it is unfortunate that CPAC’s organizers consistently fail to realize the importance of pro-life issues to grassroots conservative activists.
