Jeff and MBD dissent from my column today arguing the Left won’t recover from Trump. Again, I’m not saying the Democrats won’t win again (they’ll very likely have at least one house of Congress in 2027, whether they are in disarray or not) or that the Left of the party won’t remain influential. My contention is that the Left won’t again be able to replicate the frenzy we saw in the wake of George Floyd’s death, or again get the same kind of buy-in from people and institutions across America for radical cultural change.
