Nikki Haley lost to Donald Trump in New Hampshire last night, but as The Editors panelists observe, Trump wouldn’t accept his victory graciously.

“She congratulated Donald Trump at the outset, but she didn’t get out,” Noah Rothman says. This “set Donald Trump off in a profound way because she demonstrated that she was not yet kissing the ring.”

Charlie is of the same mind, saying, “There was some tweet from Mark Levin where he said that Nikki Haley’s behavior last night was disgraceful,” and Levin claimed “she implied she’d won an election when she’d lost, and she engaged in self-aggrandizement. Do those two things sound familiar to you? Come on. We’re in the Twilight Zone here. Haley said what everyone says when they’ve come second in a close second. She congratulated Trump for winning for goodness’ sake. I just cannot stomach this duplicity.”

Jim points out that “Trump obsesses about stupid things, things that really don’t matter in the big picture of things. . . . What was being said about him on cable news, that stands out in his mind a great deal.” Even though Trump had just won the New Hampshire primary by a solid margin, “he couldn’t do it. . . . And not only does he, you know, say, oh, Nikki Haley, he’s gotta make fun of her dress. He’s gotta humiliate Tim Scott.

“So that’s where we are. He learns nothing. He changes nothing. We’re just going to get more of this.”
