NextImg:The Corner: NFL Divisional Playoff Weekend Predictions

On wild card weekend, I managed to end up with the even 3-3 split while Charlie had an epic run at 5-1 and Andy struggled, with just a 2-4 weekend. I wasn’t bummed out about falling behind, however, as it was a joy to see both the Cowboys, Eagles, and Dolphins humiliated. Now we move on to the divisional playoffs, where I make the following picks:

Texans @ Ravens

Lamar Jackson has been playing with a chip on his shoulder all year. He has faced questions about sitting out the end of last season with an injury and endured a protracted offseason contract negotiation. He also is eager to silence naysayers about his losing playoff record. He comes into this game well rested and at home. Prediction: Ravens.

Bucs @ Lions

The Bucs surprised me last weekend, but that was more of a testament to how far the Eagles have fallen. As a Jets fan, I’m envious of that impressive Lions offensive line, and they are playing with more fire than anybody right now. Prediction: Lions.

Packers@ 49ers

How can you not appreciate what Jordan Love has done, continuing the Packers tradition of developing quarterbacks? Last week in Dallas was impressive, and Love and that young Green Bay receivers may have another great game. But I have a hard time believing their defense will be able to overcome San Francisco’s explosive offense. Prediction: 49ers.

Chiefs @ BillsOf all the games, this one is the hardest to predict, and the one I’m most looking forward to. It’s hard to bet against playoff Pat Mahomes, but he won’t be playing in Kansas City this time. As a Jets fan I’ll hope the Bills have another crushing loss, but the Bills are the hottest team in the league and the Chiefs have been inconsistent all year. Prediction: Bills.
