NextImg:The Corner: Newsflash: Netflix Isn’t the Only Woke Platform

While it’s good when public figures call attention to the ways in which woke ideology is slipped into kid’s shows, by now, practically no platform is sneaking around.

Netflix is getting canceled by Twitter warriors, most famously Elon Musk, for promoting transgenderism and same-sex relationships in kid’s shows. Netflix also reportedly prioritizes DEI hires and has in its employ people who celebrated Charlie Kirk’s assassination.

It’s good when public figures call attention to the various ways in which Hollywood, streaming platforms, and media companies try to slip woke ideology into kid’s shows. By now, though, practically no platform is sneaking around. Every parent should assume that if their child has access to a popular streaming platform, their child may stumble upon a show advertised as age-appropriate that either casually or heavily features LGBTQ+ representation.

Disney and Netflix aren’t the only platforms pushing LGBTQ content on kids.

Hulu advertises the show Craig of the Creek to kids ages eight to twelve. It contains a nonbinary character Angel José who uses the pronouns “they/them.” Hulu also features the inclusive kids’ show Steven Universe, which is lauded as being one of the queerest children’s shows. The show was even the “first time an intersex character who took they/them pronouns was introduced in a family animated series,” according to reviews; it also features same-sex couples.

Paramount+ is no better. One of its most-watched kid’s shows, Nickelodeon’s The Loud House, features a main character with two dads and another character who is bisexual. Another most-watched show on Paramount+ is Nickelodeon’s iteration of Monster High, whose prominent character Frankie Stein is a non-binary lesbian who uses they/them pronouns.

Apple TV+’s The Amazing World of Gumball contains a gay character and a male character who cross-dresses as a female in one episode. In another featured show, SuperKitties, cat characters meet a pair of gay ducks and their adopted ducklings.

Amazon Prime’s Danger & Eggs has trans and gay representation. Another show available on Prime, The Owl House, has a lead character who is bisexual, a lesbian character, and non-binary characters.

If there’s one lesson to come out of Netflix’s cancellation, it’s not that rogue platforms can go woke; it’s that parents should operate under the assumption that popular platforms will regularly feature LGBTQ+ content.
