Harvard’s Derek Bok once observed about college leaders that they are like exiled royalty and gambling addicts in that they never have enough money. Quite so, and more evidence for that is found in today’s Martin Center article by Kristin MacArthur.

She points out that a number of colleges have signed deals with gambling outfits whereby they reap financial rewards for helping promote gambling to their students. Louisiana State and the University of Colorado are the most prominent among them.

Undoubtedly, college students who want to gamble will find ways of doing so, but it’s unseemly for their schools to cash in on it and perhaps encourage a potentially harmful behavior.
