NextImg:The Corner: Mike Pence’s Great Answer about January 6

While campaigning in Iowa, Mike Pence was confronted by a voter who asked him about his decision on January 6, 2021 to reject a desperate effort by the Trump team to overturn the results of the 2020 election. In a calm and respectful — yet forceful — way, Pence explained the state of play on January 6th, and the fact that he did not have the constitutional power to send back certified electoral votes to the states as Trump and his supporters were demanding.

Pence deserves tremendous credit for standing up to the pressure he was facing, risking his political career and even his life, to carry out his sworn duty to uphold the Constitution. And he deserves kudos for standing by his decision on the campaign trail, even when pressed by voters who have been led to believe that President Biden would not be in power were it not for Pence’s actions on January 6th.

The whole clip is worth five minutes of your time.
