Milwaukee — Protests have been a boisterous affair outside of the RNC wire in Milwaukee. Various leftist organizations have made their voices heard, especially after a “handshake agreement” with the Democratic city government to march on the RNC.
Climate protesters stood behind a large green sign that read “Jesus Would Demand a Green New Deal.”
Pro-life protesters are present at the entrances and exits to the secured zone. With bullhorns, they condemn what they see as the GOP’s retreat from its defense of the unborn. Exiting the RNC on Monday night, attendees were greeted with chants of “When babies’ lives are under attack, what do we do? We fight back!”
Update 3:15 P.M.
A man was shot and killed within blocks of the RNC perimeter by an officer from Columbus, Ohio, who was assisting with security. The slain man, homeless according to his brother, was wielding two knives, according to early reporting from the New York Post. The officer will be represented by Fraternal Order of Police attorneys in Milwaukee. It is not clear if the deceased had a specific intent to do harm to a person or persons within the event, as he was stopped on the other side of the interstate, a mile away from the hard security perimeter.
