Today’s illustration of horseshoe coalitions of the far left and far right — especially against Israel — comes from socialist Zaid Jilani taking to the pages of the Washington Post: “For the past week, the politician I find myself most impressed by is my own congresswoman here in Georgia, Marjorie Taylor Greene.” Why? Because she denounced “the genocide, humanitarian crisis, and starvation happening in Gaza.”
Jilani allows that Greene is “known for embracing so many bonkers conspiracy theories” yet proceeds without irony to praise her discernment in accepting Hamas propaganda about Jewish space lasers — sorry, Jewish genocide — at face value. “It’s shocking that Greene not only spoke out against the starvation of hundreds of thousands of innocent Palestinian civilians but also referred to Israel’s aid restrictions and bombing campaign as genocide,” Jilani writes, as if we should be shocked when a crazy person repeats crazy claims.
