A postscript: Former Vice President Kamala Harris, who yesterday foreswore a 2026 California governor’s race that neither she nor we wanted to suffer through, also used the occasion to announce a chilling new career change: She is now an author of horror fiction:
What the world saw on the campaign trail was only part of the story.
My new book is a behind-the-scenes look at my experience leading the shortest presidential campaign in modern history.
107 Days is out on September 23. I can’t wait for you to read it.
Brrr, spooky! For someone so new to the genre, you have to give Harris credit for such an evocatively upsetting title. It really sets the stakes: a ratcheting, nightmarish journey into the mouth of madness where time is running out. I don’t know about you, but I just felt a shudder of fear course through my spine.
What’s that you say? This is intended as a memoir? I’m well aware of that, my friends. But believe me: It will read as horror fiction.
