Over on the main site, Charlie asks what the Republican plan is for getting the incredibly unpopular Donald Trump elected assuming he wins the nomination. I agree with the points he made, but will frame the question a bit differently: What is Trump’s plan to stop President Biden from stealing another election?
While I do not believe that Biden stole the 2020 election, Trump and his followers insist that he did. So let’s accept that premise. If you believe that Biden and Democrats will stop at nothing to keep Trump out of power, and that in 2020 they already demonstrated the ability to rig game to deny him a second term, why wouldn’t they employ that strategy again? And assuming they will again attempt to steal the election, how is Trump going to prevent it this time?
In 2020, Trump was president, with the executive branch at his disposal, and yet he somehow allowed Sleepy Joe, who didn’t even know he was alive, steal the election in multiple swing states while running a campaign out of a basement. Now, Biden is the one in control of the executive branch and he has shown a willingness to deploy the deep state to indict Trump four times. How does the out-of-power, and indicted Trump, manage to counter Biden’s attempt to rig the election when he was unable to do so when he controlled the federal government?
Mail-in voting still exists and Democrats still have the ability to ballot harvest. The Trump endorsed candidates who vowed to restore election integrity (Kari Lake, Doug Mastriano) lost their races in 2022, while Governor Brian Kemp, who oversaw the rigging in Georgia, is still in power. Democrats still control the major cities in swing states, including Philadelphia, Milwaukee, Atlanta, Detroit, etc.
For all of Trump’s talk about the travesty of 2020, in which his glorious reelection victory was ripped away from him by the corrupt Democrats, he has offered very little in terms of what countermeasures he would put in place to prevent a repeat in 2024.
