Every time we have a webathon in these parts, I smile remembering the time we convinced readers to demand a Star Trek day by giving us $20,000. You were so emphatic that we hit much higher, and made it a weekend. To this day people bring it up to me — but usually not to thank me for shepherding that weekend, but because of a long-running joke that I was a tyrannical sci-fi killjoy who would not let the boys talk about Star Trek. So much for gratitude!

Of course, we love gratitude around here. Thank you for your support for National Review and National Review Online, whether you are new to us or one of us old-timers. I still believe the best way to evangelize about National Review is the old-fashioned way. So many remember their fathers introducing NR into their lives by having a subscription copy around the house. Have it on your coffee table. Maybe it will remind you that you want to host people more often and share some of what brings you joy!

So don’t forget you can be cool and subscribe old-school here. I still try to gift subscriptions or share a few copies here and there strategically to spread the love.
