When Democrats controlled North Carolina’s supreme court, it issued a 4-3 ruling that threw out maps drawn by the Republican state legislature, thus helping House Democrats in the state in the 2022. But Republican candidates won two seats on the state supreme court in the November elections, and the state supreme court has now reversed previous redistricting rulings in a 5-2 decision: 

It’s possible House Democrats could make up whatever losses result in North Carolina in 2024 with gains following potential court rulings in Wisconsin and New York.
