One Nation, a Republican spending group aligned with Senate GOP leadership, has spent more than $3 million on an ad buy in Texas boosting incumbent Senator John Cornyn, National Review has learned. The ad buy stresses Cornyn’s Trump-aligned voting record and support for the recently passed reconciliation bill as he looks to boost his standing among primary voters amid a challenge from controversial Attorney General Ken Paxton.
One Nation’s latest ad buy is yet another sign that the race is heating up more than a year out from the 2026 midterm elections. While it’s still early in the GOP contest, recent polling suggests Cornyn faces a competitive primary challenge from Paxton. President Donald Trump has not picked a favorite in the race, but Senate Majority Leader John Thune recently told National Review that he spoke to the White House about how the president can be a “difference maker” in key 2026 Senate races such as Texas.
