The governor of California is intent on making the Golden State an abortion destination, introducing new legislation targeting women in Arizona and a TV ad newly airing in Alabama. From the latter, we are to believe that Alabama women will be pulled over by law enforcement and asked to take a pregnancy test before being arrested. Presumably the woman will be taking it on the side of the road? It’s ridiculously patronizing and cruel to women who are actually confused about abortion regulations in America. What’s more, the two women in the ad are so young, I would call them girls (but I increasingly call most people younger than me kids). They’re about the age of college students; the driver is presumably the one who’s pregnant, with her friend in the passenger seat. Don’t people of good will want to help the scared gal in a healthier way?
Women deserve better than thinking their best option is rushing out of state for an abortion, when there are actually life-giving options.
While the Left insists on more abortions, all those who consider themselves pro-life could not only share local resources but be a human resource — a person who will walk with women in need. It is done in America. We need more of it, and we need to tell the stories of what women are capable of with love instead of cynical politics and the expectation and immiseration of abortion.
