Since my summer internship at National Review ended, I’ve been back to my day job as the editor-in-chief of the Harvard Salient, Harvard’s only right-wing student-run publication. To encourage conservative thought among the next generation — including, we hope, some future Salient writers — we’re excited to announce that we’ve launched our inaugural essay contest for high-school students.

All high-school students (or homeschoolers enrolled in an equivalent grade) are eligible to participate by answering either of the following prompts:

Essays will be judged by Professor Emeritus Harvey Mansfield, one of America’s foremost conservative intellectuals. $1,000 in prizes will be awarded, and the winning essay may be published by the Salient.

If you know any students who may be interested, please encourage them to apply. The rest of the team and I look forward to reading their work.
