On the latest episode of my American Institute for Economic Research podcast, Econception, David Bahnsen joined me to talk about his new AIER paper on “financialization,” what it means or doesn’t mean, and how to think about the financial industry more broadly. Many criticisms of finance miss the mark, and Bahnsen explains why, but he still has a few criticisms of his own industry.
In the second half of the show, I talked about the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson by an anti-capitalist terrorist in New York City. I talked about misconceptions around health insurance, survey data that show most Americans like their health insurance, and the inevitable connection between socialism and violence.
The Paper of the Episode is “Adam Smith’s Guide to Life, Loveliness, and the Modern Economy,” from the Competitive Enterprise Institute.
