Texas Republican Senators John Cornyn and Ted Cruz are traveling aboard Air Force One with Donald Trump today for the president’s trip to Kerrville, Texas, following the catastrophic floods. As of this morning, the death toll stands at 12o with more than 170 people still missing.

“Nobody ever saw a thing like this coming,” Trump said on Thursday. “This is a once-in-every-200-year deal.”

The senators are expected to spend Friday’s flight speaking with the president about disaster recovery and ongoing search-and-rescue efforts. National Review asked Cornyn’s team whether the senator plans to ask Trump about his endorsement plans in his own Senate race amid a tough primary challenge from Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, who announced today that he has raised $2.9 million in the second quarter of 2025.
