Back in January, the college football season ended with the University of Michigan taking the title. But the battles continue off the gridiron and in the courts, as economics professor William Anderson explains in today’s Martin Center article.

Clemson and Florida State are suing the Atlantic Coast Conference to escape from their commitment to the conference until 2036. Why? Because the ACC is now regarded as a lesser conference when it comes to football, thus decreasing the likelihood that those two schools will get into future football playoffs.

Is this a matter for concern? Anderson thinks not. He sees it as a part of the deregulatory environment that has washed over college sports for the last few decades.
