That Cold War II seems warmer today.
The Wall Street Journal reports that the name of Israel has been removed from online digital maps produced by the Chinese firms Baidu and Alibaba. The internationally recognized boundary lines are still there, but — from the River to the Sea — the name Israel is nowhere to be found.
Did I mention that China is the patron of Iran, which is the patron of Hamas?
As the Journal’s report intimates, China’s actions are not an oversight. The Communist regime in Beijing is preternaturally attentive to published maps and is known to take loud and punitive actions when they do not comport with China’s aggressive territorial claims. And it should go without saying that the two firms in question, like all major Chinese businesses, are dominated by the Chinese Communist Party and beholden to the regime.
