The U.K. Conservative Party is being accused by Labour MPs and the media of being gripped by Islamophobia because of one Tory backbencher who said recently that the mayor of London was under the control of Islamists.
“I don’t actually believe these Islamists have got control of our country,” said Lee Anderson, “but what I do believe is they’ve got control of [Sadiq] Khan and they’ve got control of London.” “He’s actually given our capital city to his mates.”
The Tories suspended Anderson for the remarks.
But hasn’t it been just a few weeks since a Tory lawmaker, representing a largely Jewish constituency, decided to resign because of the number of death threats he had received from Islamists? Maybe if Islamists weren’t intimidating members of Parliament into resigning, members of Parliament wouldn’t think that Islamists have “got control” of London. Just a thought.
