Two things are fairly clear in our politics:
Not only is this a bad choice of leaders and one the voters as a whole really don’t want, the two men are codependent. Biden, following the playbook Democrats deployed in 2022, is doing whatever he can to help Trump be the Republican nominee. The prospect of Trump as his opponent is a major motivating factor in Biden choosing to run again to be the Democratic nominee.
Americans for Prosperity Action, the libertarian-leaning, free-market super PAC of the Charles Koch network, is hitting the web to attack that de facto alliance. In digital ads “targeting voters in the key early primary and caucus states Iowa, South Carolina, New Hampshire and Nevada,” Americans for Prosperity Action argues that a Trump nomination helps Biden, hurts Republicans, and locks most Americans out of having a choice they might actually want:
Given that these are very short ads, they of course make their point simply and bluntly: Trump is too unpopular to win again. That argument will need fleshing out and won’t convince the true Trump diehards, but the only way to see how voters can be pried away from Trump at the edges is to try. Kudos to Americans for Prosperity Action for joining the fight and putting its money where its mouth is.
