You know what drives me crazy about the ridiculous jeans/genes controversy that Charlie and Caroline and Rich have commented on? The practice of actual eugenics in America today. In fact, many judges insist that a leading purveyor of it continue to get federal funding, despite what Congress and the White House have decided.
Planned Parenthood in recent years has owned up to the fact that its founder wanted fewer black and brown babies. Her name might be off the Manhattan Planned Parenthood building, which will soon close, but she would be pleased to know that there are zip codes in New York today where more black babies are aborted than born.
If you want to complain about the model’s come-hither look in the latest American Eagle ad, fine. (Though it’s pretty quaint considering much of what’s out there.) But the abortion industry is probably not concerned about that. Those who are trying to manufacture a controversy over a clothing ad should stop wasting our time and distracting us from real evil.
