NextImg:The Corner: A Christmas Thank You

Since it’s Christmas, I’d like to take a moment to say a special thank you to the editing staff of National Review.

Associate editors Sarah Schutte, Molly Powell, Craig Young, and Vahaken Mouradian, nights & weekends editor Luther Abel, and deputy managing editor Nick Frankovich are the quintessential examples of the unsung staff member. Almost every word that is published on National Review Online or in the dead-tree National Review magazine gets line and copy edited and then proofed by one of these individuals.

It’s all an enormous amount of work for such a small staff — and they do a very good job of catching most of the errors that flow from the pens of our writers before anyone hits “publish” or the presses get rolling. It’s no exaggeration at all to say that we couldn’t do what we do without them.

Literary editor Katherine “KC” Howell edits and manages the Books, Arts, and Manners section of the magazine. Jack Butler handles submissions to NRO. Judd Berger manages National Review Online and Jessica Hornik Evans makes the trains run on time for the magazine. Art director Eric Sailer creates the covers and interior design for the magazine.

You’ll rarely see most of these individuals writing under their own byline — and when they do, it’s on top of their other work. They do what they do out of selflessness and because they love National Review and our mission.

To all of them, thank you.

(But, no, Vahaken! — I’m still not going to ever refer to Twitter as “X.” Stop changing it in my copy!)
