At the National Conservatism Conference the other month, Vivek Ramaswamy paused his speech for a minute to recognize a woman in the back of the room whose baby was fussing a bit. He’d been there, he told the mom, and he was glad she, a young politically active parent, was at the conference.

While certainly not the most notable thing to come out of NatCon, it was a sweet gesture — one I remembered today as Democrats roll out their abortion van at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago. Offering women free chemical abortions — and men vasectomies — at a political convention seems terribly inappropriate, even for Democrats, who often present abortion as fun. Belated props to Vivek for instinctually acknowledging motherhood.
