The son of a Hamas co-founder recorded himself on video granting Israel “permission” to assassinate all of the terrorist organization’s leaders, including his own father, if all hostages are not released within a specific period of time.
Mosab Hassan Yousef, the 45-year-old son of Sheikh Hassan Yousef, recommended Israel give Hamas a set timeframe to release all the remaining hostages, after which Israel should assassinate the terror group’s leadership.
“Israel cannot continue like this,” he said in a ten-minute video posted to X on Tuesday. “Hamas must have a timeframe – a month or two or six months – to return the hostages and if they don’t return the hostages within the time frame, Israel must execute top Hamas leaders in prison, especially the mass murderers.”
“When I say execute top leaders, I mean no exceptions, that includes my own father,” the son added, wishing he didn’t save his father’s life numerous times ten to 15 years ago. “He was supposed to die for his actions. I saved his life. Things did not change, things got worse.”
Although he understands why Israel agreed to release its Palestinian security prisoners in exchange for Hamas’s hostages, Yousef said the Jewish state should not further compromise with the Islamic terror group. Rather, Israel should prioritize “eradicating Hamas” while treating the remaining hostages as “war prisoners” and keeping civilian casualties to a minimum, he said.
In the video, Yousef also urged Israel to target Hamas bases in Gaza and Qatar, the latter of which has been acting as a mediator between the two warring sides. Because Qatar hosts Hamas leadership within its borders, he recommended the nation be replaced as an intermediary by Egypt or Saudi Arabia.
Israel and Hamas are expected to finish their negotiated cease-fire by the end of Wednesday, unless both sides agree to a possible four-day extension that is currently being discussed. The initial four-day truce was due to expire Monday before the two sides agreed to an additional two days, allowing for the release of more hostages.
So far, Hamas has released at least 80 of the estimated 240 hostages it abducted on October 7 and, in return, Israel has freed at least 180 Palestinian inmates from its jails.
Once the cease-fire sixth day concludes with the planned transfer of ten hostages, Hamas will still hold an estimated 150 foreign citizens in its custody.
