Blackburn sent a letter to the FBI Director asking for the complete flight logs from Epstein’s private jet and video footage from his Palm Beach home.
Senator Marsha Blackburn (R., Tenn.) is asking the Trump administration for full, unredacted records related to deceased sexual predator and financier Jeffrey Epstein.
Blackburn sent a letter to FBI Director Kash Patel Monday asking for the complete flight logs from Epstein’s private jet and helicopter, records belonging to Epstein’s partner Ghislaine Maxwell, and video footage from Epstein’s Palm Beach, Florida residence.
“This critical information identifying every individual who could have participated in Jeffrey Epstein’s abhorrent conduct is long overdue. The survivors of Mr. Epstein’s horrific crimes want transparency and accountability, and they—and the American people—deserve nothing less,” Blackburn wrote to Patel.
Redacted portions of Epstein’s flight logs and “little black book” of famous contacts have been released through various lawsuits in recent years. Government and press investigations have shone further light on Epstein’s ties to powerful people including former banking executive Jes Staley, Microsoft founder Bill Gates, LinkedIn founder Reid Hoffman, and leftist academic Noam Chomsky.
Patel promised during his confirmation hearing to work with Blackburn on disclosing as much information as possible about Epstein’s international sex trafficking ring. Epstein was found dead in his New York City jail cell in August 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges in Manhattan. His death was ruled a suicide, although questions remain about the circumstances surrounding his final moments.
Blackburn also wrote a letter to acting IRS Douglas O’Donnell for all agency records on the people and institutions with financial ties to Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. She is demanding greater transparency about who Epstein’s business associates were.
“Over the course of many years, Jeffrey Epstein built a heinous global sex trafficking network that caused irreparable harm to countless women. Since Mr. Epstein’s death in 2019, there is still much about this tragic case that is not known. The American people deserve transparency regarding the criminal web that Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell established, and their business associations are critical to that understanding,” Blackburn said.
Epstein’s financial ties to JP Morgan and Deutsche Bank were heavily scrutinized when his sexual abuse regained prominence leading up to his federal charges in 2019. The banks have both settled lawsuits brought by Epstein victims over their years-long management of Epstein’s wealth and finances.
Maxwell is currently serving a 20 year prison sentence in New York City on federal child sex trafficking charges and other offenses related to her time with Epstein. A trove of Epstein-related documents came out last year from litigation between Maxwell and prominent Epstein accuser Virginia Guiffre. The documents featured several depositions from Epstein victims and famous associates of Epstein’s such as former President Bill Clinton and the disgraced British Prince Andrew.
Epstein was jailed in Florida after pleading guilty in 2008 to state prostitution charges and registering as a sex offender. He had already signed a generous non-prosecution agreement to avoid federal charges and shut down an FBI investigation into the activities at his Palm Beach estate. After leaving jail, Epstein relocated to the U.S. Virgin Islands and carried out his sex trafficking operations on Little St. James island. Epstein also had a lavish Manhattan residence and remained friendly with elites worldwide.
