President Biden has allegedly still not met or reached out to his 5-year-old granddaughter Navy Roberts, who was born out of wedlock in 2018 after Hunter Biden had an affair with former stripper Lunden Roberts.
Lunden Roberts, who will be called as a witness in Hunter’s ongoing federal gun trial, told Piers Morgan on Thursday that while Hunter and the girl have been “building a relationship” on Zoom, no one else in the Biden family has met Navy.
While Hunter initially refused to acknowledge Navy as his daughter, a 2020 paternity test proved he was in fact the father.
Roberts at one time sought to have her daughter take the Biden name but eventually agreed to drop her demand, while Hunter agreed to give the girl a number of his paintings that have sold for an especially large sum.
President Biden only publicly acknowledged Navy as his seventh grandchild last July after receiving intense media criticism over his failure to include the girl in his family.
“Our son Hunter and Navy’s mother, Lunden, are working together to foster a relationship that is in the best interests of their daughter, preserving her privacy as much as possible going forward,” President Biden said in a statement to People magazine at the time.
“This is not a political issue, it’s a family matter,” Biden added. “Jill and I only want what is best for all of our grandchildren, including Navy.”
On Thursday, Roberts told Piers Morgan that her pregnancy was “one of the loneliest times of my life” and that she struggled with suicidal thoughts after learning she was pregnant.
“I knew that, as long as I was pregnant, I wasn’t going to do anything to myself, because that would harm my child. So I didn’t think I would do anything to myself while I was pregnant. But I would feel that, after the pregnancy, would it be better for my daughter and for Hunter and everyone else if I wasn’t here? Because it seemed like a scandal, and a burden is what I felt like at those times.”
However, she applauded Hunter for not telling her to have an abortion after she told him about her pregnancy.
Roberts was on Hunter’s consulting firm’s payroll during her pregnancy, according to text messages unearthed from his abandoned laptop.
Roberts, who met Hunter while she was dancing at a D.C. strip club called Mpire, said she knew he was having an intimate relationship at the time with Hallie Biden, the widow of his late brother Beau Biden, and that Hunter was struggling with an addiction to crack.
Moving forward, she said she hopes Hunter can avoid prison and suggested President Biden should pardon his son if Hunter is convicted and given a prison sentence in either of the two criminal cases, the second of which is related to alleged tax evasion.
She also wants Hunter to meet his daughter in person.
“The world knows Hunter has a lot on his plate right now,” Roberts said. “I think that that needs to be his main focus. The rest can come after.”
“Navy is well aware. She knows that her father is very busy right now and he’s got a lot of things going on. She’s waited five years. She can wait a couple more months,” she added.
