NextImg:Kansas School District Teacher Training Says Misgendering Students Could ‘Lead to Death’

A teaching training for a Kansas school district warns that refusing to call a student by preferred pronouns could lead to catastrophic consequences, including death, for the child.

A presentation for staff and a so-called “gender support plan,” obtained by nonprofit Parents Defending Education, reveal the extent to which gender ideology has infiltrated Wichita Public Schools.

In the staff training, titled “LGBTQ+ Students: Pronouns and More,” are definitions for the terms “gender identity,” “gender expression,” and “cisgender.” The slides claim that “schools are hostile places for LGBTQ+ students,” citing high suicide statistics for LGBT youth who don’t receive parental support

“The lack of using pronouns could lead to death. We are here to support and educate students, not to judge them or push them over the proverbial edge,” it reads. Misgendering can avoid sending students into a spiral of depression, it implies.

The slides demonize parents who question their child’s new gender identity, accusing them of being neglectful and bigoted.

“To not use the preferred pronouns and/or names can equate to discrimination. To allow a parents wishes to not use the students’ preferred pronouns and/or names is to allow yourself to be deputized to discriminate. This is not acceptable,” it says.

The gender support plan appears to show that the gender identity of students could be kept secret from parents in Wichita.

“Are the guardian(s) of this student aware and supportive of their child’s gender transition?,” a question on the form asks.

According to the document, gender-confused children will be encouraged to seek counsel with a staff member at school, potentially further removing the parents from the conversation.

“Who will be the student’s ‘go to’ adult at school?,” the form asks.

A section on the form is also dedicated to “use of facilities,” for a staff member to mark which gender restroom, changing space, and rooming arrangements for overnight trips should be arranged for the student struggling with gender dysphoria.

School districts across the countries have enacted gender policies that have effectively walled off parents from an extremely high-stakes, intimate question concerning their children’s wellbeing. The alienation felt by many parents over the last few years, since the gender craze has exploded in K-12, has driven an exodus from the public school system into private schools, charter schools, and homeschooling.

“Under the doctrine of ‘in loco parentis,’ schools are delegated some measure of authority over children during the course of the school day. However, this certainly does not mean that public school officials replace or supplant the role of the family – which sadly, far too many taxpayer-funded educators seem to have forgotten,” Nicole Neily, president of Parents Defending Education, said. “To undermine parents’ right to direct the upbringing of their children is not only immoral, but also illegal.”
