A federal judge agreed to delay Hunter Biden’s tax-evasion trial to the fall as his attorneys prepare for his federal gun trial.

Judge Mark Scarsi pushed back Biden’s tax charges trial in California to September 5 after his attorneys asked for more time to prepare following Biden’s federal gun trial, set to begin next month.

Biden’s attorneys have thus far failed to get the gun trial delayed after claiming they are unprepared and lack the resources needed to fight the Justice Department. The tax trial was originally scheduled to start only days after the gun trial is expected to wrap up.

Biden is facing nine federal tax charges for his alleged failure to pay over $1 million of taxes over a four year period. The federal tax indictment leveled against Hunter Biden in December contains salacious details of his lavish lifestyle and financial information about his foreign business dealings. Over those four years, Biden hauled in more than $7 million of income primarily from his foreign business dealings during and after his father’s vice presidency.

Hunter Biden pleaded guilty to the charges and his attorneys failed to have them dismissed earlier this year.

It’s unclear where Hunter Biden will get the funds to pay for his continued legal expenses. His patron and Democratic donor Kevin Morris is reportedly cutting Biden off after providing an estimated $6.5 million of financial support. Hunter and his team are reportedly considering setting up a legal defense fund to help pay his bills.

Special counsel David Weiss is prosecuting Biden for the tax charges and federal gun charges stemming from a firearm purchase Biden made in Delaware while he was addicted to drugs.

Biden’s attorneys have unsuccessfully argued Weiss was appointed unlawfully by Attorney General Merrick Garland, an appointee of Hunter’s father, President Joe Biden. They have also claimed Joe Biden’s Justice Department is selectively prosecuting his son.

Joe Biden will be seeing his son go to trial a second time as his reelection campaign against former president Donald Trump reaches its final stages. Early voting across the U.S. will begin around the start of the tax trial, meaning the court proceedings could potentially influence the results of the 2024 election.
