Ford Motor Company said its X account was “briefly compromised” after the account published several anti-Israel posts on Monday.

While the posts have been deleted, screenshots show the messaging included, “Israel is a terrorist state,” “Free Palestine,” and “ALL EYES ON GAZA.”

“Our X account was briefly compromised and the previous three posts were not authorized or posted by Ford. We are investigating the issue, and apologize for any confusion caused,” the company said in a statement to CBS News.

Pro-Palestinian hackers have targeted several other institutions since the Israel-Hamas war began, including the Jerusalem Post and the Pittsburgh Jewish Federation.

In the attack on the Pittsburgh Jewish Federation, which occurred in the days following the October 7, 2023, Hamas terrorist attacks, hackers replaced the federation’s banner photo with a Palestinian flag emblazoned with the phrases “Free Palestine” and “Stop the Genocide.”

Hackers also added the hashtags #JewsAgainstGenocide and #FreePalestine to the federation’s bio and added a link to an Egyptian Red Crescent donation page.

The attack on the Jerusalem Post, which also occurred in October 2023, involved cyberattackers taking down the outlet’s website. The U.S. Department of Justice later charged two Sudanese nationals for allegedly operating the group responsible for the attack on the Post and Israel’s red-alert system.

Ford, meanwhile, is headquarted in Dearborn, Mich., the first Arab-American majority city in the U.S. The company’s founder, Henry Ford, had a dark history of antisemitism and often wrote articles blaming the Jewish people for a number of things.

“Ford saw Jews present in everything that he viewed as modern and distasteful — contemporary music, movies, theater, new dress styles, and loosening social mores,” the Henry Ford Museum explains.
