The FBI is investigating three children’s hospitals for allegedly mutilating the genitals of transgender-identifying minors.

The FBI is targeting Boston Children’s Hospital, Children’s Hospital Colorado, and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, Fox News reported Tuesday, citing a source familiar.

The investigation follows a directive from Attorney General Pam Bondi to the Justice Department to enforce genital mutilation statutes in compliance with President Trump’s executive order on protecting children from gender-transition procedures.

“The Department of Justice will not sit idly by while doctors, motivated by ideology, profits, or both, exploit and mutilate our children,” Bondi said in the memo.

“Under my watch, the Department will act decisively to protect our children and hold accountable those who mutilate them under the guise of care. I am putting medical practitioners, hospitals, and clinics on notice: In the United States, it is a felony to perform, attempt to perform, or conspire to perform female genital mutilation (‘FGM’) on any person under the age of 18.”

The three hospitals are among the nation’s leading providers of transgender procedures for minors, according to a database compiled by watchdog Do No Harm.

From 2019 to 2023, Boston Children’s Hospital saw 301 underage sex-change patients and performed 159 gender-transition surgeries on minors. The hospital also had 149 hormone and puberty blocker patients who were minors and issued 752 sex change-related prescriptions to minors. The patients submitted $6.5 million in charges to the hospital.

Children’s Hospital Colorado had 120 minor sex-change patients and performed 13 transition surgeries on minors. The hospital had 108 puberty blocker and hormone patients who were minors and wrote 860 sex change-related prescriptions for minors.

Likewise, Children’s hospital Los Angeles had 265 total sex-change patients who were minors and 165 minors as surgery patients. There were 103 minors at the hospital who were hormone and puberty blocker patients and 888 sex change-related prescriptions were issued to minors.

The Do No Harm database is based on publicly available insurance claim data the organization obtained from clearinghouses, data aggregators, payers, health systems, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and open sources. Do No Harm’s methodology cross referenced gender and prescription medical codes to a diagnosis code for gender dysphoria, the temporary condition of feeling disconnected from your own body.

“We applaud Attorney General Pam Bondi and the FBI for launching criminal investigations into these hospitals. Children’s hospitals should be places where sick children can receive high-quality and evidence-based care, not laboratories where activist doctors experiment on kids,” said Do No Harm chairman Dr. Stanley Goldfarb.

“We look forward to working with the Justice Department and its new Coalition Against Child Mutilation to identify and hold accountable other children’s hospitals that are inflicting irreversible harm on minors.”

The Supreme Court upheld Tennessee’s ban on transgender operations on minors in a landmark ruling earlier this month. The decision likely ensures similar bans will be maintained in numerous other red states that no longer allow minors to undergo the harmful medical operations and experience the lifelong consequences.

A growing body of research from European nations and the U.S. has shown there is little evidence to back up the activists claiming mentally distressed minors will experience improved well being from transgender procedures. On the other hand, bombshell internal documents released last year showed leading the transgender advocacy organization, the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH), knew children could not fully comprehend what they were getting into.

A growing number of detransitioners have come forward to describe their experiences with being rushed into transgender operations as teenagers only to regret them later on and revert back to their biological sex. Some of the detransitioners have filed lawsuits against the medical institutions that allowed them to receive the life altering medical procedures despite their poor mental health at the time.
