Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents on Tuesday detained the family of Mohamed Soliman, the illegal immigrant from Egypt who was behind the recent firebombing attack against a group of Jewish people in Boulder, Colo.

“Today, the Department of Homeland Security and ICE are taking the family of suspected Boulder, Colorado terrorist and illegal alien Mohamed Soliman into ICE custody,” Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said in a post on X.

“Now Mohamed’s despicable actions will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, but we’re also investigating to what extent his family knew about this horrific attack, if they had any knowledge of it, or if they provided support to it,” she added.

Soliman used a flamethrower and Molotov cocktails to set several members of a Jewish group on fire on Sunday as the group gathered to express solidarity with the hostages remaining in Hamas captivity. Soliman’s attack left twelve people wounded. The victims ranged in age from 52 to 88 and reportedly included a Holocaust refugee.

The 45-year-old suspect was heard yelling “Free Palestine” during the attack.

He faces federal hate crime charges after he admitted to spending a year planning the attack, according to the FBI.

Soliman entered the U.S. on a tourist visa and then overstayed it before getting a work permit during the Biden administration, White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller said.

“A terror attack was committed in Boulder, Colorado by an illegal alien. He was granted a tourist visa by the Biden Administration and then he illegally overstayed that visa. In response, the Biden Administration gave him a work permit. Suicidal migration must be fully reversed,” Miller posted on X.

In the wake of the attack, the Department of State revoked the visas of Soliman’s wife and five children, DHS spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin told the New York Times.

Meanwhile, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said his agency will seek out “all terrorists, their family members and terrorist sympathizers” who are in the U.S. on a visa, and warned them “that under the Trump Administration, we will find you, revoke your visa, and deport you.”
