It was a costly moment of distraction. The Emirati pop singer Ahlam, a social media star in the Middle East, registered a complaint with the Paris police at the end of January over the theft of two suitcases containing, among other things, clothes, valued at €100,000. According to Le Parisien, the diva allegedly left her luggage for a few moments on the landing of the residence in the 16th arrondissement where she was staying, while she was on her way out. In 2016, she had already reported the theft of a €100,000 Rolex and a ruby, stolen from one of her bags on the terrace of a Parisian brasserie.

Blake Abbie, Lynn Ban and Jett Kain had rented an apartment not far from the Champs-Elysées to attend Fashion Week. The three actors in Bling Empire: New York, a Netflix reality series that follows very wealthy East and Southeast Asian-American socialites, had their apartment burgled in their absence. The loot: a Rolex watch, diamonds, the equivalent of €5,000 in cash and a tablet computer, which, thanks to its geolocation, enabled police officers a few hours later to arrest four men in the 18th arrondissement on suspicion of receiving stolen goods. Most of the stolen items were recovered.

It was supposed to be a Fashion Week like any other in Paris for Kim Kardashian, with the only annoyance coming from the overly insistent flashes of the paparazzi. But on the night of October 2, fake police officers showed up at the luxury hotel residence in the 8th arrondissement where the American star was staying. Gun to her head, Kardashian was tied up in her bathroom. Around €6 million worth of jewelry was stolen. "This experience made me aware that the world was no longer a safe place," the reality TV star confided to Le Monde. After a lengthy investigation, 12 men are due to go on trial in spring 2025.

With his motorcade of limos, Prince Abdulaziz bin Fahd Al Saud, eldest son of King Fahd of Saudi Arabia, does not travel discreetly. On the road between the Hôtel George-V and Le Bourget airport, from which he was heading to Ibiza in mid-August, a minivan carrying one of his chauffeurs, a security officer and a steward was stopped by hooded gunmen. Jewelry and a suitcase containing €250,000 in small-denomination notes were stolen. The robbers left in two stolen BMWs, which they later set on fire. In May 2021, six men were sentenced to between three and seven years in prison for the robbery.
