By four votes to one, Brazil's Supreme Federal Court found the far-right former president Jair Bolsonaro guilty and sentenced him to 27 years and three months in prison for an attempted coup.

"A group led by Jair Messias Bolsonaro (...) developed and implemented a systematic plan aimed at attacking democratic institutions," explained Carmen Lucia, a judge on the Court. Bolsonaro's lawyers vowed to file "the appropriate appeals, including at the international level."
