Hundreds of pagers used by Hezbollah members exploded across Lebanon on Tuesday, September 17, killing at least nine people and wounding some 2,800, the Lebanese Health Minister Firass Abiad said on Tuesday evening. In a statement, the Health Ministry confirmed a "large number of injuries due to what appears to be an explosion of beepers that the victims had in their possession" and asked citizens with beepers to "stay away from them until the truth is established about the accident."
